Hell on high water
Article Abstract:
Sinchuacuan jermal, 25 kilometers off the cost of northern Sumatra, is one of 140 fishing sites in Indonesia that has the world's worst form of child labor. Many of the workers are boys between the ages of 12 and 14 who work under extreme conditions, breaking all international rules on child rights. Many work between 12 and 13 hours daily. When the tide is high, they work 23 hours straight with no breaks, no holidays, and no weekends.
