Article Abstract:

An exhibition, 'Greek Treasures from the Benaki Museum in Athens', is going to be held at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney (May 5-September 4, 2005), Immigration Museum, Melbourne, (October 12-January 31, 2006) and Western Australian Museum, Perth (February-June, 2006). It illustrates the importance of Greek culture in the history and development of European civilisation over the past 8000 years.

EXHIBITION REVIEW: The curator of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Hobart, has got together some of the most beautiful paintings of the great John Glover who was described as the Constipated Constable. The colonial artist depended heavily on realism in all his landscapes and the exhibition describes GloverEs transition from a picturesque painter to someone who was ahead of his times.
