Stella Franklin known as Miles Franklin during 19th century is remembered for her two enduring legacies to Australian literature, namely the annual Miles Franklin Literacy Award and the novel My Brilliant Career that became the shinning light of her career. Franklin's My Brilliant career reaches across time and space and her rich, bold wild life continues to enrich the country giving an example of what it is to live true to oneself and to live free.

The copyright incident in Mytiko, a small chapel street label run by sisters Theresa and Karen Muscat who alleged that Dolly Girl had unlawfully replicated one of the signature designs is discussed. On December 19, 2003 in the Federal Court of Melbourne, Justice Finkelstin acknowledged that the copyright protection would be available to the designers.
