Members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment serving in Rwanda were distressed over the latest incident to embarrass the regiment: a videotape showing a few Airborne members making racial slurs. Airborne troops have served honorably in Rwanda and are trying to live down their bad image.

Hutu rebels in Rwanda murdered 10 UN peacekeepers on April 7, 1994, as the international soldiers' ability to defend themselves and the peace was severely challenged. Canadian General Romeo Dallaire is being investigated for his role in sending the troops on such a dangerous mission.
