The three-way battle for two open Queensland Senate seats between Andrew Bartlett, Ron Boswell, and Pauline Hanson has been decided without the inclusion of the latter, who failed to lead her One Nation Party to the Senate. The One Nation party's strength was eroded this year, a phenomenon that benefited the Liberal Party, among others. The results of the entire Australian Senate elections are discussed.

Queensland is divided on the issue of whether to adopt daylight savings time or not. Adopting daylight savings time will save businesses money. The Cold Coast Chamber of Commerce is advising businesses to operate on the daylight savings principle, even if the practice is unofficial.
