High-tech meltdown: Nortel's fall from grace

Article Abstract:

Nortel Networks Corp. stock lost nearly one-third of its value and analysts tried to downgrade their recommendations on the company, after the company gave its surprise warning about its earnings. Shares fell $15.15 to $31 yesterday on the Toronto Stock Exchange, since the company said it was cutting its profit expectations by nearly 20% for 2001 and cutting its work force during the year by 10,000.
