The advocates of child welfare in the US are optimistic about the reform movements in many state and local programs, effective trends in child welfare policies, and speedy placement of foster children into permanent homes. However, they are doubtful regarding the federal financial squeeze, which might affect the child welfare funding and threaten the increase in methamphetamine addition.

The rising state resistance to 'No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act' has led to a mini-revolution in the states thus challenging the aspects of the law. Perry Zirkel, a Professor of education and law at Lehigh University believes that there are no evidences to convince the majority of the public that the NCLB act is an unsuccessful law.
