In an effort to improve national security, governments are revoking the drivers' licenses of illegal immigrants; critics of the program argue that many people will lose their jobs, bureaucratic errors will occur, the number of hit-and-run drivers will increase, and potential terrorists will become more difficult to trace.

Poverty rate falls sharply among Hispanics, study shows

Hispanic New Yorkers are at the same poverty rate as non-Hispanic black New Yorkers in 2000 compared with being the poorest group in the mid-1990s. The information was analyzed by the Community Service Society of New York from US Census Bureau data.
