Intel, Cisco execs invest big in tech
Article Abstract:
Intel Corp and Cisco Systems Inc have invested more than $28 billion in small technology firms since 1994, a sum equal to the total amount collectively invested in 112 mutual funds specializing in science and technology ventures. For Intel, such investments will spur technological innovations that will encourage consumers to buy faster computers containing Intel chips. Acquisitions are also the fastest way by which both companies can quickly add new products to their lineups.

Article Abstract:
Amazon.com Inc continues to disappoint investors with its lackluster performance as shown by increased operating losses and declining gross margin. Company CEO Jeff Bezos asserted that the company is implementing certain strategies to control diminishing gross margins and promises a return in the fourth quarter of 1999. Amazon can also look forward to better prospects from growing revenues and from the 190% increase in the number of Internet users to 13.1 million.
