The Bosnian government's detention of two Bosnian Serb officers suspected of committing war crimes led Bosnian Gen Ratko Mladic to announce the suspension of relations with IFOR, the NATO force that is implementing the the Dec 1995 peace treaty among all waring factions signed in Bosnia.

A numbers game: Croatia's latest move may hasten an end to the fighting

Between 150,000-200,000 Serbs left their homes after Croat forces invaded Krajina, reclaiming the territory lost in 1991. Serb, Croat and Muslim refugees are now a common sight in the Balkans. Outside observers hope that the Croat offensive may lead to new peace initiatives.

Article Abstract:

Croatian Pres Franjo Tudjman invaded Krajina and captured the capital city of Knin. The region used to be controlled by Croatia until 1991, and the Croats had repeatedly vowed to reclaim it. The Croatian offensive sparked new fears that the Balkan conflict will get worse.
