Article Abstract:

Singer/musician Norah Jones, daughter of sitarist Ravi Shankar, was born in New York but moved to Texas with her mother when she was four years old. As a child she sang in the church choir, and eventually she went to the Booker T Washington High School for Performing Arts in Dallas. She attended the University of North Texas, and eventually moved to New York where she formed a band.

OBITUARY: Ray Charles (1930-2004) Ray Charles was a musician of consummate taste and played his voice like the precious, responsive instrument. He overcame race, poverty and blindness to achieve his success as he himself had once remarked there is nothing below us except the ground, and he always looked up to life.
