John Howard is making 'trust' as his central theme for countering Labor's attack on his honesty and credibility, while Mark Latham is making counter claims against Howard for breaking the trust in the past. The counter strategies of both these parties for the 2004 election campaigning are discussed.

John Howard has an edge over Latham, because of his political history. Latham has made known that he would be able and capable of getting across the detail of complex issues, proving his critics wrong.
