Several people who were part of the 26,000 applicants for work at a General Motors plant in Pickering, Ontario, describe their experiences in a huge line outside the factory. The applicants endured hours of bitter cold, even though they knew they had little chance of getting one of the $22 hour jobs.

David Milgaard was released from prison after serving 23 years when wrongfully convicted of murder in 1970. The Supreme Court of Canada recommended a new trial, but the Saskatchewan Justice Minister said Milgaard would not be re-tried.
