Lions Gate's Hollywood gamble
Article Abstract:
Vancouver, Brit Colum-based Lions Gate Entertainment seeks to position its operations as Canada's leading distribution and production company for movies and television. Lions Gate Entertainment's founder and chairman, Frank Giustra, has been involved in many deals since forming Lions Gate Entertainment in 1997. A second C$64-million offering, a C$56-million private placement and the acquisition of North Shore Studios in Vancouver are all part of Lions Gate Entertainment's efforts to outperform Toronto, Ontario-based Alliance Communications, a rival television and motion-picture company.
