Fund managers steer clear of turbulent Japan
Article Abstract:
Canadian mutual fund managers are staying away from Japanese stocks due to negative sentiments over the market. Japanese stocks have posted an annual loss of 3.3% in the 1990s, thus, forcing international equity managers to just allot 9.7% or less of their portfolios in the Japanese market. However, some Canadian mutual funds are betting a recovery in the market, but are limiting their investments in strong domestic Japanese companies which offer the best value.
