Several ministers announced, in what is becoming known as MegaWeek, sweeping legislative reforms that will affect almost every aspect of local government. The reforms address education, public housing, health programs, police service, public transit and several other services.

The political parties' television ads are likely to become more negative as the general federal election approaches. Each of the parties is expected to attempt to attack the opposition without appearing superficial or nasty.
