The rapidly increasing popularity of violent video games appears to parallel increasingly violent behavior on the part of young people. The two boys from Columbine, CO, who killed many people at their school and then themselves enjoyed playing violent videos such as BattleTech and Doom. US lawmakers are considering legislation limiting distribution of such games with a rating system similar to that of motion pictures.
