Mercy killing: an elderly woman goes free after taking the life of her ailing husband
Article Abstract:
Jean Brush of Stoney Creek, Ontario, killed her 81-year-old husband on Aug 18, 1995, because she could not bear watching him suffer from Alzheimer's disease and hallucinations. Her own suicide attempt on the same day failed. She was convicted of manslaughter, but given a suspended sentence.
