Microsoft: The Teflon goliath

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp of Redmond, WA, has continued to post strong profits despite repeated warnings of slower sales and the antitrust suit by the Justice Dept. The software company announced a profit of $1.98 billion, or 73 cents per diluted share, in the 4th qtr 1998, up by 75% from $1.13 billion, or 42 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Most stock analysts still recommend a buy on the stock although is trading at 60 times earnings because they believe that the company will benefit from recent surge in sales of PCs and Internet use.
