The company's revenue has slipped to $9.83 billion from $10.19 billion. Apart from these the company has lost money, is trimming expenses and expects sales to rise. Though the company anticipates increase in sales for 2005, various factors need to taken into consideration.

The investors of Nortel Networks Corporation are hopeful despite that the company reduced its profit for 2003 by 41% thereby asking senior executives to pay back millions that they received as bonuses. The company announced in January 2005 that five directors including chairman Lynton Wilson would step down at the annual meeting held in 2005.
