Article Abstract:

Sibling rivalry has increased in Australian nuclear families which is supported by number of progressive surveys commissioned by Relationships Australia (RA) which confirm that 20% of the nations' adult are estranged from an immediate family member, most commonly a brother or sister with whom a relationship has broken down. Strong differential parental affection and control of siblings is the main cause of sibling rivalry.
