The United Nations in early Apr 1992, sent a 14,000-man peacekeeping force to Yugoslavia to separate the warring factions in the lingering civil war in that nation. The peacekeeping force included 1,200 Canadians. An overview of the role of the Canadian troops is presented.

A city under siege: Dubrovnik has become a symbol of defiance
Article Abstract:
The civil war in Yugoslavia has caused the destruction of the beautiful and historic city of Dubrovnik. The siege by the pro-Serbian Yugoslav army has lasted seven weeks. The war began after Croatia declared its independence on Jun 25, 1991.

Warriors for peace
Article Abstract:
Canadian Lester Pearson introduced the idea of peacekeeping forces to the United Nations in 1956. Members of Canadian Forces have provided peacekeeping services since then, and are most recently serving in Yugoslavia.
