Opal miner takes on a brighter shine

Sydney solicitor Ray Whitten restructured management at Queensland Opals (QOP), and his cost-cutting measures should show a profit by June, 1999. Whitten expects QOP's stock to produce a net return in 1999-2000 of 3 cents a share. The company says its project at Lucky Mine contains sufficient reserves to last 5 years.

Amadeus and the magic flue

Amadeus Energy peaked at 89 cents in July 2005, as the world oil price increased to a new high. The company also announced $US20 million purchase of 26 leases over 1500ha in central Texas, containing 26 producing gas wells, six producing oil wells and multiple prospects yet to be tapped.
