Ottawa may seek WTO ruling on Bill C-55
Article Abstract:
The Canadian government is planning to submit its proposed legislation called C-55 before the World Trade Organization (WTO) to let the international tribunal decide on its legality. The proposed law would ban Canadians from advertising in foreign split-run magazines. However, the Clinton administration reacted coolly to the proposal, saying the Canada's old policiy on foreign split-run magazines was thrown out by the WTO in 1998.
