Ottawa won't set steel tariffs: Fear of backlash from other countries keeps door open to cheap imports
Article Abstract:
Ottawa has decided not to impose any safeguard tariffs on foreign imports of cheap steel for fear of a backlash from other countries including the U.S. The federal government has also formed a three-way North American Steel Trade Committee with the U.S. and Mexico to enable a closer integration with the continental market.
