The British North America Act of 1867 has a provision that allows prime ministers to appoint people to the Senate. Suggested changes to the provision are presented for Prime Minister Brian Mulroney's consideration. Several journalists have criticized use of the provision.

Publishers should concentrate on improving the quality of writing found in magazine and newspaper articles. Hackneyed language is likely to offend the few highly literate people who continue to prefer reading to television.

For the CBC, less could be more

Since all television network ratings are declining, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. should not be surprised to be struggling. The CBC should concentrate on what it does best and make itself unique.
