Article Abstract:
The two approaches that are being debated by the government to tackle the street gang violence are discussed. One approach authorizes a tough, enforcement-oriented strategy in tacking gang-related offences while the other offers a more rehabilitation-oriented approach.

The crime rate in the U.S. has dropped mainly due to stricter street patrolling and tougher prison sentences. Though, on the other hand the population of imprisoned drug convicts has continued to increase.
