Firestone averts strike, resists 2nd tire recall

Article Abstract:

Bridgestone/Firestone was able to reach a settlement in its contract negotiations with its workers but federal officials reportedly said that other Firestone stones should be recalled. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned consumers that the rate of problems on 1.4 million Firestone tires could be worse than those recalled on Aug 9. It is not a recall and so Bridgestone/Firestone is not required to recall the newly implicated tires.
