The Comet Vale goldfield outside Kalgoorlie is seeing a boom as the first gold from its old Sand Queen mine is due to be poured on June 8, 2006. Production was started by Reed Resources at a modest planned recovery of 20,000 ounces a year with an initial mine life of 3.5 years, and would show Reed a net operating profit of around Aus$3.3 million.
