Reading crisis? Will reading remain a vital skill in the 21st century?
Article Abstract:
An argument is presented that reading is a vital skill for developing active, resourceful citizens and cannot be replaced by online reading. A counter-argument states that, while reading and writing are the best communication methods for the present, they will become redundant after electronic technologies find a better way to retrieve the same information.
