Red Lobster goes overboard for diners

Article Abstract:

Darden Restaurants Inc's Red Lobster brand in Oct 2000 introduced a $60- million advertising campaign with the tagline 'Go Overboard.' The advertisements use seaside footage, music and humor to show the extremes Reb Lobster takes to obtain fresh seafood. The campaign appears to be effective as shown by 5.5% increase in same-store sales for the most recent quarter, compared with the previous year. In USA Today's exclusive consumer poll, Ad Track, 23% liked the advertisements 'a lot,' reaching the survey average.
