Increasingly, e-mail users find they have something to hide
Article Abstract:
E-mail users have grown more cautious in how they address their messages. Senders are thinking more about whether to use the To, CC, or BCC address fields. Some users have pulled names out of lengthy To lists and sent them unsolicited messages, some social, like how do you know so-and-so, some commercial, like a come on for a service or product. Putting names in Bcc field prevents a recipient from seeing who else was sent the message.

Rivals say VeriSign still has advantage; a deal will allow a company to keep registering and selling Internet addresses
Article Abstract:
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) and VeriSign Inc. have signed a contract which will give VeriSign control of the .com domain-name database through the year 2007. The US Commerce Dept. has yet to OK the contract, but does have the power to reject or approve it. The Commerce Dept. is overseeing VeriSign's gradual monopoly-phase-out of domain addresses .org, .net and .com. Critics believe if the contract is approved VeriSign will retain too much power.

How to move the home page to a new home
Article Abstract:
For relocating a Web site, the consumer can get help from an Internet service provider for a fee-based plan and visit cnet.com or zdnet.com for a new site home. One should save copies of the present home pages to a disk or an HTML file or use file transfer protocol software. If the site is the product of FrontPage, the publishing program can be used to upload files to the new home. Let the company where your old domain name is registered know to redirect the address to your new site. And allow some time to pass before cancelling your old account as the process takes a few days.
