Sales fears ended talks: Corning

Corning, NY-based Corning Inc. has ended negotiations to acquire the fiber optics division of Brampton, Ont.-based Nortel Networks Corp. Corning, which reportedly would have paid an estimated $100 billion for the Nortel unit, was concerned about the effect of the merger on its sales.
