Sharing the podium: Browning and Stojko win silver and bronze

Article Abstract:

Skaters Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko won the silver and bronze medals, at the 1992 world championships in Oakland, CA. They are the first two Canadian singles skaters to win at the same championship. While Browning ponders whether to go professional, Stojko will be training for future amateur competitions.

Talent under pressure

Article Abstract:

Canada's top male figure skaters were plagued by injuries as they prepared for the 1992 Winter Olympics. Kurt Browning missed the Canadian championships with a back injury, while Michael Slipchuk won the men's title despite a nosebleed during the competition and Elvis Stojko was hampered by a foot injury.

Article Abstract:

The figure skating team of Lloyd Eisler and Isabelle Brasseur are Canada's top chance for a medal in pairs skating. Eisler and Brasseur began skating together in 1987 and finished 9th at the 1988 Olympics.
