Should Oregon's assisted-suicide law be repealed?
Article Abstract:
Oregon's Measure 16 allows physicians to write prescriptions for pills they know the patients are going to use to suicide but does not permit assisted suicide through lethal injection. Opponents of the Measure point to the possibility that the suicide attempt will fail, with the result of worsening the patient's condition significantly. Supporters believe sending the Measure back to the voters is insulting because it implies they did not know what they were doing when they passed it in 1994. Supporters would prefer attempting to improve the Measure as well as encouraging pain management care.

Should Congress enact legislation barring restrictions on communications between doctors and patients?
Article Abstract:
Congress should enact legislation which bars insurance company contracts containing clauses that restrict communication between doctor and patient. The concept of informed consent is undermined by not allowing physicians to fully disclose information concerning risks, costs, and medical options that could be beneficial to the patient. The American Association of Health Plans, however, feels proposed legislation is too broad, restrictive to business, and not needed.
