Should baseball be stripped of its antitrust exemption?
Article Abstract:
Professional baseball is the only sport still protected from anti-trust laws, but increasing labor disputes and ticket prices have led some to ask for this exemption to be abolished. Those in favor of holding baseball to the same laws every other business in America thrives under point out that if the owners operated in an open market, they would have more incentive to negotiate with each other and players. Proponents of the antitrust exemption claim removing it would not solve labor disputes and could kill the tradition of major league baseball.

Would realignment hurt the game of baseball?
Article Abstract:
Realignment could either hurt or help the game of professional baseball. Realignment is the process by which 15 teams would switch leagues in order to save on travel costs. It would disrupt the game's history and could be avoided if all teams equally shared television revenue. On the other hand, tradition should not be preserved for the sake of tradition. Modern pressures may force the game to move forward into new forms.

The future of baseball: can it regain its old popularity?
Article Abstract:
The changing nature of baseball has threatened its traditional popularity with fans. The financial structure of the game has changed so that revenues are dependent on television broadcasts. Multimillion dollar contracts of free agents have made the game more expensive for average fans and disrupted team cohesion. Fan support has been dissipated by a player's strike and attraction to other sports.
