Not much in the Microsoft court decision encourages entrepreneurs or investors to think that the software giant will be less of a competitor. According to Shanda Bahles of El Dorado Ventures, however, Microsoft does seem to be more open to cooperating with small software partners than it was before the lawsuit.

There is cautious optimism among the many residents of the famed Silicon Valley as many software firms are looking to hire again and many observers feel that the worst might be over for hordes of software programmers and information technology professionals. Though companies have not started hiring on a large scale, many software professionals speak of positive signs and an increasing number of interview calls.
