Small wireless TV firm takes on satellite industry
Article Abstract:
Northpoint Technology provides an alternative way to provide inexpensive cable and broadcast TV and Internet access nationwide. The technology operates under a similar principle as a cellular phone network. It would use a network of tiny transmitters on towers and buildings, each serving about 100 square miles of north-facing dishes. The company does not have a single subscriber yet but the satellite industry, represented by the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Assn, is already warning against the possibility that the proposed system would disrupt service to US consumers.

Not your parents' recreation center
Article Abstract:
The neighborhood recreation center has been transformed from an ordinary edifice into a building akin to a neighborhood theme park. Across the country, upscale public recreation facilities have sprouted due to a public that demands more and better recreation services. Middleburg Heights, OH, for example, built an 83,000-sq ft community center at a cost of $17 million. Among its facilities are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water slides, lap lanes, two gymnasiums, an indoor track and exercise room, classrooms, a community hall and two concession stands.
