Article Abstract:

The number of Asian tourists arriving at Brisbane Airport dropped off since the Asian economic crash, but the airport's commercial manager Barry Kairl worked with retailers and tour operators to increase consumer spending there in the year and a half since the airport was privatized. Travellers from the Americas and Europe have increased, although not enough to compensate for the loss in Asian visitors.

Qantas will take part in the testing of a new security system by the International Air Transport Association in light of heightened airline security concerns after the recent terrorist attacks. The program will involve biometrics, a technique used to identify people by an eye scan.
