Compact disc-quality music is available on-line using MP3 technology, which compresses data for quicker downloading. MP3 files can easily be shared for free by attaching them to e-mails. The real test of the technology will be when people start making compact discs of music using MP3 files. The recording industry is concerned about copyright infringement.
