Storming the border: a growing number of western farmers oppose the wheat board's monopoly on grain exports

A Dec 1995, poll of Alberta farmers found that 60% favor ending the Canadian Wheat Board's monopoly on grain marketing. Since the 1940s, grain farmers have been required to sell wheat and barley through the Board. Manitoba farmer David Sawatzky is also challenging the Board's authority in court.

Scandal: act 2: Ben Johnson faces a lifetime ban from track
Article Abstract:
Sprinter Ben Johnson was banned for life from competing in track events because he tested positive for high levels of testosterone after a Montreal track meet in Jan 1993. Johnson was stripped of a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics after testing positive for steroid use.
