Stronach agrees to reconsider property-entertainment merger: but fiesta magnate makes no promises on changing or withdrawing proposal

Under the angry attack of investors, Frank Stronach, Auto parts magnate agreed to reconsider a controversial deal involving two companies he controls. Frank Stronach said the MI Developments Inc.'s board of directors would take another look at whether to buy 38 per cent of horse racing track and gambling operator Magna Entertainment Corp.

CRTC institutes tougher rules for Canadian telemarketers

Article Abstract:

The federal regulator in Canada approved a clampdown on unwanted phone call and launched a national do-not-call list. The new level has divided opinion about its benefit though this will be a rid from unwelcome calls it might lead to longer calls that could end up costing sales and jobs for the industry.

CRTC seeks public input on telemarketer abuses

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission wants to protect consumers from telemarketing abuses. Telemarketing industry officials and consumer advocates believe that enforcement of current rules should be better rather than new laws should be implemented.
