Taxes on Internet sales opposed
Article Abstract:
Enforcing new sales taxes on merchandise purchased over the Internet is strongly opposed, according to results of two surveys conducted by the Information Technology of America and marketing firm @plan. Respondents said that tariffs on Internet sales could hamper the growth of electronic commerce and could influence their choice of president in the national elections on 2000. Meanwhile, the Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce will be starting a series of meetings to oppose taxes on Internet sales.
