The fighting that broke out in Mar 1992, in Bosnia-Herzegovina between muslims and ethnic Croatians who support independence for the region, and ethnic Serbs who oppose separation, has taken a heavy toll on civilians. Serbs have been accused of randomly murdering nonmilitary personnel.

Nigerian Pres Ibrahim Babangida resigned from his position Aug 27, 1993, but did not fulfill his promise to establish a democratically elected government to replace him. Babangida had annulled the results of a Jun 12, 1993, election in which Moshood Abiola was the winner.
