Article Abstract:

The Reserve Bank's decision early May 2006 to increase the official interest rate has lifted the average mortgage repayment across all states of Australia between $26 and $40 per month. Along with higher fuel costs, some calculations put Australians financially worse off than they were 12 months ago.

Article Abstract:

The prediction that interest rates could go as high as 10% in 2006 have the potential to cause panic as the Australia's mortgage belt struggles under the weight of crippling levels of debt. Rising interest rates and falling house prices are two great factors of concern of the modern homeowner.
