Camels have an immune system capable of handling most diseases and are able to deal with global warming, shortages of food and water, while simultaneously transporting people and producing milk, meat and fibre. An auction in Rockhampton has heralded the birth of an exciting new industry for Australia where buyers of camels included beef producers snapping up the animals for grazing control of problem weeds, and some looking to form breeding herds in expectation of the developing global meat market.

One man who can supply details of the cloak-and-dagger wheat deals Australia did with former Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein is Charles Scott, a 45-year-old marketer, expected to reveal his previously unseen role as an Australian Wheat Board (AWB) and government operative. In 1991, Scott secretly negotiated the payment of $200 million of Saddam Hussein's gold to the Australian government against future AWB wheat deliveries.
