The classic infomercial format, in which celebrities and psychics chat about the glories of their 900 numbers, has helped such talk lines as the Anthony Carr Psychic and Astrology Group generate huge sales volumes. Critics charge that the talk lines exploit late night TV viewers' personal problems.
