U.S. networks love our subsidies
Article Abstract:
US television broadcasting companies are taking advantage of the benefits offered by Canada for productions in terms of government subsidies and tax breaks. These 'flag-of-convenience' productions have helped US broadcasters save hundreds of thousands of dollars by using actors and labor in Canada. One company that has taken such opportunities is Showtime, with productions that included 'The Outer Limits' and Total Recall 2070.' Canadian TV industry officials are divided over the practice by US broadcasters.

Discovery chief joins CTV
Article Abstract:
CTV Television Network Ltd hired Discovery Channel President Trina McQueen as executive vice-president. Her appointmeny surpised many in the industry since McQueen's relationship with CTV President Ivan Fecan was a little bit rocky in the early 1980s. Fecan said McQueen will oversee CTV's cable stations, programming and sales to allow him to concentrate on corporate moves.

Canadian investment in London no pittance
