Vice chairman to head International Data unit

Axel Leblois, vice chairman of International Data Group is named chairman and CEO of one of the company's subsidiaries, a market research and analysis firm called the International Data Corp. Leblois will succeed Thomas E. Swithenbank at the helm of the company which Leblois describes as providing information about the information technology industry. The International Data Group is a privately held company with annual revenues of $500 million. It publishes some 120 computer related publications around the world, as well as providing market research and producing exhibitions and conferences on information technology.

I.B.M. vice president heads Rolm venture
Article Abstract:
H. Mitchell Watson Jr is named president and chief executive of the Rolm Co, a joint venture of IBM and Siemens AG. Rolm Co will market and service private exchange telecommunication products. IBM acquired the Rolm Corp in 1984, and in 1988, IBM sold the manufacturing and development operations to Siemens. Watson joined IBM in 1962. In 1969 and 1970 he managed the development of a computer-controlled switchboard for private branch exchanges and from 1975 to 1978 he worked at IBM's communications division in Raleigh, NC. Watson graduated from the University of Tennessee with advanced degrees in mathematics.
