Article Abstract:

A 1995 poll of Canadians found that most people are pessimistic about the future and more than 25% do not believe the country will survive in its present form. Quebecers had significantly different attitudes on issues such as veto powers and secession. The results are presented.

Ottawa's fish tale: the federal Liberals have brilliantly stage-managaed the crisis over turbot

Article Abstract:

Canadian Fisheries Minister Brian Tobin managed to win important concessions from Spain in the turbot fisheries dispute, and deflect attention from Canada's other problems, such as the budget deficit. An opinion poll shows 89% approve of Tobin's actions.
